99Rock Music News: Trent Reznor's Selling His Beverly Hills Home In Case You Feel Like Spending Millions

Trent Reznor's Beverly Hills home has hit the market and it's not at all what you'd expect from the frontman of Nine Inch Nails.

It's bright and airy, and not at all walled off like a dark castle you'd assume from his industrial electro music and all of the crazy fans he has to fend off.

One thing you might not be surprised by however is the steep price tag of $4.495 million, according to the Trulia listing, where you can also take a virtual tour.
Purchased in 2007 for $4.1875 million, the house is a dream retreat with an infinity pool, zen-like patios, a big green lawn, and views of the hills. There's also a soundproofed music studio in the garage and an on-site backup generator, because inevitably fuses have been blown.

99Rock Music News: Jack White Played a $3 Surprise Show in Alaska and Brought Out Jack Johnson: Watch

(Photo Courtesy Mary Ellen Matthews for Columbia Records)

True to his promise, Jack White just played the first of his $3 acoustic surprise shows.

The concert went down in Anchorage, Alaska, at the Wendy Williams auditorium, where White brought out Jack Johnson to play the White Stripes' 2002 White Blood Cells track "We're Going to Be Friends," a song that Johnson has covered in the past; back in 2006, the mellow singer-songwriter covered it for his album Sing-A-Longs And Lullabies For The Film Curious George. Johnson had just performed with White in Hawaii, which is definitely a place where you'd expect to see him, Alaska being probably the last.

White also treated fans to "Love Interruption," "A Martyr for My Love for You," "Goodnight, Irene" and covers of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, Consequence of Sound reports.

By Shannon Carlin, courtesy radio.com

It's been a while since anyone's seen Green Day live, but that's all about to change.

The band announced they'll be playing Cleveland's House of Blues on April 16, two days before they'll be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The gig will mark the first live show the band has played in over a year. The last time Billie joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool played together was at last year's South by Southwest under their side project, Foxboro Hot Tubs. Before that, they had spent much of 2013 touring behind their trio of albums, Uno!, Dos! And Tre!

Tickets on sale (Apr. 3) via the band's official website.

Turn Your Smart Phone Into A Game Boy

(Photo images courtesy - Hyperkin)

by Alyssa Pereira, CBS San Francisco
It may have started out as a cruel April Fool's joke, but now, thanks to the twisted mind of Hyperkin's Chris Gallizzi, the "Smart Boy" has turned out to be a real thing.
Gallizzi posted an image on Reddit this week of a small console that essentially turns an iPhone into an old school Game Boy that actually works with classic Nintendo cartridges.
"We wanted to create a retro device that can be easily adapted into any modern gamer's arsenal of devices," said Gallizzi.

But if you don't have an iPhone, they're not cutting you out of the deal. "We are working on an open side panel version for Android phones," he told Reddit.

According to the press release, the console will look just like the old school Game Boy too.
"Although in early conceptual development stages the Smart Boy will come in the classic '80s Grey,' a staple of retro electronics," Gallizzi explains. "More colors may follow. It will also feature an eight-way D-pad; two action buttons; a start and select button; and an included battery that can be charged through the phone itself. The gameplay itself will output through the iPhone 6 Plus' own screen.
The Smart Boy will integrate with the phone by way of an a downloadable app. "There will be noticeable upscaling, a cheat database, and save states as well."
