Deftones fans are some of the most hardcore. They pledge their allegiance to everything from Adrenaline to Koi No Yokan and everything in between. But, considering they’ve been a band since 1988, there’s a lot of old Deftones music that the public hasn’t heard.

And, if lead singer Chino Moreno has anything to do with it, it seems like no one would ever heard his stuff from the early days when Moreno started the Deftones in high school with Abe Cunningham and Stephen Carpenter.

“I’ve been going through all these tapes from ’95/’96,” said Moreno in an interview with VH1. “They’re hard to listen to. Like, seriously, I really feel like we’ve gotten better as a band. And, me as a vocalist, I didn’t know what I was doing.”

Detones currently have plans to start writing a new album this year, which would be a follow-up to 2012′s Koi No Yokan.
