99Rock Music News: Foo Fighters Reenact 'Carrie' for ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: [Watch]

By Jay Tilles (courtesy radio.com)

Dave Grohl has taken the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to a whole new level.

With the help of his fellow Foo Fighters and a little movie magic, Grohl takes on the role of Carrie White, from the classic horror movie Carrie based on Stephen King's first novel.

But before embarking on the cinematic role of a lifetime, Dave Grohl passes the challenge along to Jack Black, John Travolta (who played a supporting role in the original film) and appropriately enough, King himself.

The Foos' three-minute remake finds Grohl playing Sissy Spacek's prom queen character from the 1976 film, with drummer Taylor Hawkins filling the roll of the prom king in order to reenact the movie's pivotal scene when a reprehensible prank is pulled on Carrie (Spacek's character). Gallons of blood are poured over her head in order to embarrass the teenager.

Pat Smear and Nate Mendel assist in the prank, hiding behind the curtain, letting go of the ice bucket just at the right moment.
Grohl's footage is brilliantly cut together with shots from the original film.

99Rock Music News: The Killers Turn Iggy Azalea's 'Fancy' Into Piano Ballad [Watch]

At a recent show in England, The Killers gave fans a taste of something they've been working on. No, it wasn't a new original song, it was their piano cover of Iggy Azalea's "Fancy," complete with a few finger wagging interpretive dance moves done by none other than the Las Vegas band's drummer, Ronnie Vannucci.

Their more somber take even featured a little lyrical switcheroo as Flowers sang, "From Vegas to Staffordshire" instead of "L.A. to Tokyo." The few second cover ended with Vannucci stretched out on the floor underneath Flower's lightening bolt keyboard.

"What do you think?" Flowers asked. "I think it's a hit."

99Rock Music News: Foo Fighters Announcing Something Big on Monday

(Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images)

By Philip Cosores

Yeah, announcements of announcements are inherently lame. Like, just announce what you want to announce already?

But, with bands of a certain stature, the announcement of the announcement has become a part of the tradition. So, the Foo Fighters posting on Facebook that Monday will see big news is just part of the game. So let's play!

At this point, we know Foo Fighters have a new album coming. It is expected in November, in fact. We also know that there will be an HBO series chronicling the creation of their 8th studio LP, and it will make its premiere on October 17, titled Sonic Highways.

The most obvious speculation for what will be announced will be the album title and release date. But, it could also be a fall tour. The release timeframe would also make sense with corresponding radio station Christmas events, but those announcements usually come way later.

Get Hurt, the fifth studio album from The Gaslight Anthem, is still a week away from its official release.

But that isn't stopping the band from streaming the new record a little early, via iTunes Radio.

The four-piece act from New Jersey has already revealed a handful of new songs from Get Hurt, including the title track, "Rollin' and Tumblin'" and, most recently, "Stay Vicious."

Frontman Brian Fallon has called the record "completely different" from previous Gaslight releases in a May interview with Rolling Stone.

99Rock Music News: Man Was Attacked and Bitten During Arctic Monkeys Set at Lollapalooza 2014

By Shannon Carlin

One man got much more than he bargained for during Arctic Monkeys' set at this year's Lollapalooza.

The man took to Reddit yesterday (August 4) to detail his horrifying experience, which included being attacked and then bitten by another festival-goer. Biting unfortunately seems to be a theme at recent concerts. (See: Beyoncé and Jay Z's Saturday night show at the Rose Bowl where a man's finger was bitten off.)

The victim says he was watching the Arctic Monkeys at about 9:35 pm perfectly sober ("All subsequent police and medical professional even remarked how odd it was dealing with someone so sober," he wrote) when a man, which he describes as being "between 5'7″ and 5'11," dark skin (maybe Hispanic, but not black), 170-210 pounds" body slammed his friend and started choking him.

"I come from the other side and place my right arm on his right arm and my left arm on his right shoulder trying to pull him off," he wrote. "The attacker then turns his head and clamps his teeth into my arm for a good 5 seconds. He's not nipping at me. He's trying to bite through my arm."
