It’s official, Karen O is going solo. And the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman promises her debut will be a bit more subdued than anything else she’s previously done. So fans should probably say goodbye to those days of O spitting beer at the crowd and wildly swinging her lipstick-stained mic. At least for now.
The singer’s first solo album, Crush Songs—out September 9 via Julian Casablancas’ label, Cult—will be more in the vein of her GRAMMY-nominated “The Moon Song” from Spike Jonze’s movie, Her.
The pre-order is a limited edition vinyl that will include original drawings and handwritten lyrics by the artist herself.
