Brent Smith talks about Adele…

99Rock Music News: Shinedown's Brent Smith Talks about how he went about singing Adele's 'Someone Like You'

According to The Pulse Of Radio, SHINEDOWN singer Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers will release four more acoustic cover songs on March 18, including their take on ADELE's hit "Someone Like You", for which the duo have just released a new video (see below). The four tracks were originally part of an album called "(Acoustic Sessions)", but did not get certain permissions in time from the original artists, forcing the six other tunes to be issued as an EP.

Smith told The Pulse Of Radio how he went about singing "Someone Like You". "Well, you have to understand it's a song written from a female point of view, and it's a very, very emotional song," he said. "I still stayed very true to the song, but I sang it more like how I would have sung it. I still stayed true to the melody, but I had to kind of make that song a little bit more mine, whereas the other ones, I really kind of just stayed true to the format."

The four additional songs, which also include covers of BON JOVI's "Wanted Dead Or Alive", PEARL JAM's "Black" and PHIL COLLINS' "In The Air Tonight" will come out under the title "(Acoustic Sessions, Pt. 2)".

Each of the songs was recorded in a single take. Smith told Billboard that he and Myers "are so excited that finally all 10 cover songs are available for the world."

The first six covers was released in January and included songs from THE CLASH, OTIS REDDING, METALLICA, SOUL ASYLUM, KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD and THE BLACK CROWES.

SHINEDOWN is also in the early stages of recording its fifth album, the follow-up to 2012's "Amaryllis". The sessions will be filmed for an ccompanying documentary.
